Leading Queensland Trainer, Tony Gollan, Looking To Expand Into NSW!

Written on the 14 July 2016

Tony Gollan is awaiting approval from the Australian Turf Club to open stables in Sydney, acquiring boxes at Rosehill. Currently there are no available boxes, however, 32 boxes will be freed up when trainer, Michael Freedman moves from Rosehill to Randwick in the next few weeks.

Gollan said, "We have had talks with the ATC and we have thrown our hat in the ring for some boxes down there to open up another stable and at this stage we believe that is being looked upon favourably, but we won't know the answer to that for another four weeks".

"We feel the timing would be good for us to possibly open another stable down there and therefore have a presence in both states."

Gollan is eager to expand on his base of NSW owners and this also gives his Queensland clients the opportunity to race horses in both states. He feels the time is right to enter the Sydney racing arena before he plans on starting a family with his wife, Jane.

A second stable in Sydney is unlikely to affect Gollan's dominance in Brisbane.

He curently has 70 boxes at Eagle Farm which is expected to increase to around 90 in December this year, with more than150 horses on the books.
