New Favourite for the Richest 2YO Race in the World - The Golden Slipper!

Houtzen has now taken the lead as favourite with $4 odds for the Golden Slipper over the now TAB downgraded She Will Reign at $4.60.

She Will Reign trainer Gary Portelli is not too concerned with losing the favourite position.

"I'm comfortable she is not favourite, someone else can have that pressure," Portelli said.

Although Houtzen and She Will Reign account for almost 50% of money on the Golden Slipper with the TAB, Glenn Munsie expects punters to rally around several other runners this week including Blue Diamond trifecta: Catchy, Pariah (if he runs) and Formality.

The 2017 Golden Slipper Stakes hosted by Rosehill Gardens in Sydney is on this Saturday March 18th. It's a 1200m Group One race at set weights for 2yo's and is the richest 2yo race in the world with an astounding $3.5 million on offer.

Tomorrow will highlight the barrier draw at 11am after the final field at 9:30am.

Rosehill is rated a soft six track (moist but not badly affected) on Saturday and rain is predicted in Sydney every day this week, with 14-45mm expected to fall on Monday and Tuesday alone.

The 4 win from 4 starts Houtzen has won twice on soft tracks but is yet to race on a heavy surface. A heavy surface means the track has been affected by rain.
