William Inglis and Son Locked In Fell Swoop at $10m The Everest!

Multiple Group 1 placegetter, Fell Swoop, will get his chance against the likes of Chautauqua, She Will Reign and Houtzen after being confirmed as the William Inglis slot representative for The Everest, the inaugural race which will be held at Royal Randwick in October.

Not A Single Doubt sired Fell Swoop was purchased for a mere $45,000 at the Inglis Classic Sale, and has won to date over $1.6m for his syndicate owners.

Inglis managing director Mark Webster was thrilled to have Fell Swoop as the company's 2017 slot runner. He said they had bought a slot in March and had been searching for an Inglis graduate before deciding on Fell Swoop who is currently at $21 to win The Everest.

Canberra trainer Matthew Dale has prepared the 5yo gelding during his career, winning 9 of his 23 starts and being competitive at Group 1 level.

"We were always working towards The Everest with Fell Swoop and hoping it would work out," Dale said.

"To have a position in the field locked away is a big relief. We can just concentrate on getting the horse ready for the race now."

Dale said Fell Swoop is back in pre-training and will return to his stables in Canberra, later next week.

"We will follow the (training) blueprint that has resulted in Fell Swoop running second and third in the last two TJ Smith Stakes," he said.

It's expected Fell Swoop will resume racing in The Shorts at Randwick on September 16 with a final lead-up to The Everest in the Premiere Stakes on September 30.

Three-time TJ Smith winner Chautauqua is the $4.80 (Ladbrokes) favourite for The Everest ahead of Irish horse Caravaggio $11 and Golden Slipper winner She Will Reign at $7.
