Golden Slipper Beckons For Team Thoroughbreds' Colts

Written on the 10 October 2016

Team Thoroughbreds have two colts, Love Conquers All X Jessica's Hope and Stryker X Absolute Harmony, who are now paid up for next year's Golden Slipper, among over 1500 nominations.

One of the biggest and most prestigious horse races in Australia, which will be held on Saturday, 18th March 2017 at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse in Sydney, the Golden Slipper is also the richest 2yo race in the world. With prize money of $3.5 million up for grabs, top class 2 year olds will go head to head, vying for the coveted Golden Slipper trophy and prize money.

While the Golden Slipper Stakes is the highlight, the day also includes the G1's Ranvet Stakes, George Ryder Stakes, The Galaxy and the Rosehill Guineas.

Hosted by the Australian Turf Club, next year's edition is being run as the Tooheys New Golden Slipper. The race is run over 1200 metres under set weight conditions and has been going since 1957, marking this next event the 60th year anniversary.

A number of famous horses, jockeys and trainers have been involved in this event, with some names going on to perform well at the Melbourne Cup and Cox Plate.

With tens of thousands of people making a day of it, the atmosphere generated on the Golden Slipper day is sure to be one to remember, at this 60th anniversary event.

With both colts from Team Thoroughbreds doing really well with their pace work, barrier education and soon to do their jump outs, interest is mounting on these two colts. Trained by Queensland's leading trainer, Tony Gollan, and yet to be fully syndicated, there is only a 15% share left on Love Conquers All X Jessica's Hope, bred on a similar cross that produced the 2014 Golden Slipper winner, Mossfun. This colt was selected by Melbourne Cup winning bloodstock agent, John Foote and is not only paid up for the Golden Slipper, but the $10 million dollar Magic Million race series, $13 million dollars in QTIS bonuses and Golden Rose race 1st & 2nd nominations.

Stryker X Absolute Harmony is about to head up to the Eagle Farm stables and is looking like he has the winning edge. He descends from a family that's produced the dual group 2 winner Eclair Choice, 3rd dam Burst, the last filly to win the 2yo triple crown - G1 Golden Slipper, G1 ATC Produce Stakes and G1 ATC Champagne Stakes.
