Jane, Wife of Trainer Tony Gollan, Wins Award!

Written on the 30 June 2017

It seems excellence runs in the Gollan family household. With Queensland leading trainer, Tony Gollan presently in the lead for his 4th premiership in a row this year, the spotlight has instead been placed on his wife, Jane this month.

Jane Gollan who is very much a hands-on part of Gollan Racing has won the Thoroughbred Care and Welfare Award at the annual Godolphin Stud and Stable Staff Awards for her efforts in helping to re-home retired racehorses.

"It was a huge surprise to win it, but very much an honour," Gollan said.

"I feel privileged to have won it."

Gollan takes an active role in the re-education of horses that have finished their racing careers, and has re-homed almost every horse that retired from the stables of her husband Tony Gollan.

"It's so important for them to be re-trained and for them to have a purpose," she said.

Darren Weir's racing manager, Jeremy Rogers won the major award of Thoroughbred Excellence for his outstanding work in the programming of over 2,500 runners nationwide for Weir.

"I'm truly blown away. I didn't expect to win an award but to walk away with the top award is a true honour," Rogers said.

"All I ever wanted to do was to be involved in racing and I soon realised that the administrative side of a stud or stable was where I had something to offer."

Now in its third year in Australia, the Godolphin Stud and Stable Staff Awards recognise the work of participants in six unique categories.
