Love Conquers All Progeny, I'm A Rippa, Wins For Tony Gollan and Alannah FancourtWritten on the 14 November 2016
Not only a brilliant win for leading Queensland trainer, Tony Gollan, making this his second win for I'm A Rippa, but for Tony's apprentice jockey, Alannah Fancourt. This is Alannah's second win for Tony since her career comeback on October 28th this year, after a horrific fall at Toowoomba when riding Yeezy on New Year's Eve last year. This determined 24yo jockey who has also been described as a lovely person, fractured her neck and was initially told she may never ride again. The best diagnosis was recovery after 6 months which is the prize she clung to, to get her back in the saddle. Alannah worked hard, determined to make a brilliant comeback and she did just that with her first comeback win on November 5th with Tony Gollan trained 4yo mare, My Girl Hayley. "I wanted to get a winner early on, just so I could get my confidence back and I think the big girl did it just for us." After this second win for Alannah, riding I'm A Rippa, we can safely say she's a champion in more ways than one. (Photo: Alannah Fancourt with My Girl Hayley after her comeback win) |
