Most Important Decision by Tony Gollan to Kick Off Spring Campaign at Caulfield!Written on the 18 August 2017
This is trainer Tony Gollan's first run down south with the million dollar earning sprinter, who picked up a $500,000 bonus for winning the Brisbane summer triple sprint crown. Gollan flew to Melbourne on Thursday with plans of meeting Most Important at Melbourne airport. "As it has turned out, I am in Melbourne and Most Important is back in Brisbane. The plane which was going to bring him to Melbourne broke down and the flight was cancelled," Gollan said. "I'm confident he will get here. I will be at Caulfield when he arrives. If he doesn't, I will be on an early morning flight back to Brisbane." "It is no use worrying about it and it gives me a chance to catch up on some work down here." Gollan deliberately missed the Brisbane Winter Carnival so Most Important coud have a good break before tackling the spring targets. "He had been up for months and done a terrific job. But he has blossomed during the spell and is ready to head south." Most Important finished second to stablemate El Sasso when he trialled at Doomben last week. "It was a good trial because El Sasso was out to work hard as we are trying to get his confidence back. But Most Important worked to the line well which was the main thing," Gollan said. Gollan expects a good run from the five-year-old gelding but believes there is still improvement in him. He has drawn a can't-complain-about-it barrier 6 and will be ridden by Mark Zahra. "Obviously he has only had the one trial and isn't fully wound up yet. But he should be able to get into a nice position as they don't go along as fast as we do in Brisbane," Gollan said. "I would be disappointed if he doesn't run well." (Photo: Most Important - Photo Source: Gollan Racing Facebook page) |
