Premiership Winners for 2016/2017 Including Tony Gollan's Fourth Premiership Win!

Another racing season came to a close on Monday with some impressive stats by premiership winners below. Tony Gollan has earned himself Queensland's Metropolitan Trainer of the Year for the fourth year running. His 77 wins falls a bit short of the previous years' results but a great effort nonetheless considering some changes that took place.

Jeff Lloyd has won his second premiership win in a row with Queenland Metropolitan Jockey of the Year. He has since smashed Chris Munce's record for most wins, raising the bar and making it difficult for others to beat.

NSW trainer Chris Waller came in with an impressive 220 metropolitan wins, earning prize money of over $18M, while NSW jockey Hugh Bowman earned over $11M in metropolitan NSW with 83 wins.

Darren Weir won the VIC Metropolitan Trainer of the Year with 137 wins and prize money of over $13M, while Craig Williams won Vic Metropolitan Jockey of the Year with 77 wins and prize money of over $7M.

Over 30 awards will be handed out, including Queensland Horse of the Year, Trainer of the Year and Jockey of the Year at the 2017 Queensland Thoroughbred Awards at the Gambaro Hotel on September 9th.
