The Townsville Winter Racing Carnival Kicks Off Next Week!Written on the 7 July 2017
There will be three high profile race days over the two weeks. The first day of the carnival at Cluden Park Racecourse will feature 7 races beginning with the $100,000 RSL 2YO Classic. The 2YO Classic is run over 1200 metres and is a set weights race with no class or sex restrictions. On Saturday, July 29th, the last day of the carnival, the $100,000 Townsville Cup kicks off the 8 race-card meet and is run over 2000 metres. It is an open handicap with no class or sex restrictions. Race 2 on the same day will feature the just as generous $100,000 Cleveland Bay Open Handicap, held over 1300 metres. No class or sex restrictions on this race either. Thursday, July 27th will kick off its 7 race-card meet with the Townsville Guineas QTIS Three-Years-Old Handicap over 1609 metres. Again, no class or sex restrictions on this $30,000 race.
