Love Conquers All Progeny, I'm A Rippa, Wins For Tony Gollan and Alannah FancourtWritten on the 14 November 2016 At Doomben on Saturday, November 12th, Tony Gollan trained, I'm A Rippa, took out a brilliant win at the National Storage QTIS 3 Year Old Handicap by a healthy 2 lengths. I'm A Rippa, sired by Love Conquers All, out of dam Derippa, did it in champion-like style when this 3yo bay gelding, once clearing the barriers, bolted and took the lead all the way during the 1350m race. Out of 9 starts, I'm A Rippa has to date had 2 wins, 1 second and 2 third placings in his 2 seasons. Not only a brilliant win for leading Queensland trainer, Tony Gollan, making this his second win for I'm A Rippa, but for Tony's apprentice jockey, Alannah Fancourt. This is Alannah's second win for Tony since her career comeback on October 28th this year, after a horrific fall at Toowoomba when riding Yeezy on New Year's Eve last year. This determined 24yo jockey who has also been described as a lovely person, fractured her neck and was initially told she may never ride again. The best diagnosis was recovery after 6 months which is the prize she clung to, to get her back in the saddle. Alannah worked hard, determined to make a brilliant comeback and she did just that with her first comeback win on November 5th with Tony Gollan trained 4yo mare, My Girl Hayley. "I wanted to get a winner early on, just so I could get my confidence back and I think the big girl did it just for us." After this second win for Alannah, riding I'm A Rippa, we can safely say she's a champion in more ways than one. (Photo: Alannah Fancourt with My Girl Hayley after her comeback win) |
