Fashion Highlights from the Gold Coast Magic Millions 2017!

Written on the 20 January 2017

With any big race day, fashion is always one of the big highlights and the Gold Coast Magic Millions Race Day was no exception. While the fashion is a little more relaxed at Magic Millions, it is certainly no t-shirts and shorts affair.

With Myer Fashion's prize pool topping $30,000 across women's and men's racewear categories, it was expected the competition would draw record interest.

At the top of the judges list was someone who had dressed for the occasion and the heat was no excuse for letting style standards slip.

"I love seing how the Gold Coast embraces fashion with so much personality, but you can still do that and dress conservatively," Myer ambassador, Jodi Anasta said.

"That means no mini skirts. There is an elegance to racing; it's about honouring tradition."

Designer Johnny Schembri of By Johnny said that balance was the secret to building a winning outfit.

"When I see one of my dresses on the stage at Fashions on the Field, I love to see how they've made it their own - what they've done with the hair, their shoes, "Schembri said.

"Anybody can buy the same dress but everybody puts it together differently."

"The fashion here is different to what it might be in Melbourne where everyone has their layers."
