Tony Gollan and Alannah Fancourt A Winning Team!

Written on the 10 March 2017

Congratulations goes to Queensland leading trainer, Tony Gollan for his most recent wins. 3yo filly Red Handle, sired by Not A Single Doubt has delighted with a couple of wins in a row. The most recent being the Jim Byrne 1990-1991 Handicap (1000m) on Wednesday at Eagle Farm, ridden by Alannah Fancourt and the Sky Racing (Bm62) over 1200m at Ipswich last month, ridden by Jim Byrne. The current race record for Red Handle is 3 wins from 11 starts with prizemoney of $83,400.00.

5yo gelding Hi I'm Back, sired by Sequalo had his 6th career win, the first since August last year, winning the Weddings@tattersail's (Rs1mw) over 1000m at Eagle Farm on Saturday. He was knocking on the door with his 2 second places before this. Hi I'm Back is now targeted for the Weetwood in Toowoomba. The current race record for Hi I'm Back is 6 wins from 15 starts with prizemoney of $167,200.00.

The previous week saw four mid-week wins by Alannah Fancourt and Jim Byrne at Doomben with Ignite The Light, Scorcha, Dame Van Winkle and Love Conquers All sired I'm A Rippa.

Alannah has been riding extremely well since returning to the track after a major fall where she fractured her neck over a year ago. Her current strike rate of 1 win for every 6.5 rides, giving her a statistic of 15.3% puts her up there close to the seasoned Jim Byrne. Even better, the jockey/trainer combo of 20.9% rate with Tony Gollan is impressive.

The latest word is, Tony will soon be settling into the new infield stables at Eagle Farm. We did a piece on this last year while it was under construction. The new look Eagle Farm infield development includes 400 stables, the world's first major stable complex to be constructed on the infield.
