Magic Millions National Weanling Sales Off To A Great Start!

The Magic Millions National Weanling Sale which runs over two days from Thursday, May 25th got off to a great start on the first day. Weanlings by no fewer than 19 individual first season sires who are Group One winners are being featured. All of Australia's leading active sires are well represented.

"The sale has produced countless success stories - from outstanding Group One winners to the Yearling Sale stars of the future," Magic Millions Managing Director Vin Cox said.

"Pierro, Zoustar, Peggy Jean and Driefontein are examples of the quality racehorses who have emerged first at the National Weanling Sale."

Apart from the popular first season sires, Snitzel, I Am Invincible and Fastnet Rock are also among the big guns represented. Not A Single Doubt is also expected to achieve good results at the sale.

Deep Field is the most heavily represented in the book, however, Newgate Farm's Australian Horse of the Year Dissident posted the single best result on the first day. A Dissident colt from Fastnet Rock mare Celtic Sea was purchased by David Lucas on behalf of Dubai based Phoenix Investments for $300,000.

Darley's Brazen Beau was not far behind, siring a colt from Calvados. The colt was purchased by Hilldene/Peter Ford Thoroughbreds for $270,000.

Deep Field, another Newgate sire, with a colt from Caesour's Promise fetched $240,000 for Attunga Stud when purchased by Musk Creek Farm.

Swettenham Stud's Toronado (IRE) did well with a colt from Fastnet Rock mare Damasheen at $140,000. He was purchased by renowned judge James Bester.

Top seller for Darley's Shooting to Win was a filly from Sotella that made $130,000 for Kitchwin Hills when bought by Hilldene/Peter Ford Thoroughbreds.

Coolmere's Rubick had the best result with a filly from Chase the Dame that made $130,000 for Holbrook Thoroughbreds.

Newgate's third sire Wandjina got his best result from a filly from Bright Heart that made $90,000 when bought by Fernrigg Farm.

Arrowfield's Olympic Glory (IRE) did best with a colt from Step to the Beat that made $70,000 for Kitchwin Hills when purchased by Meredith Park.

Cornerstone Stud's Zebedee (GB) had a colt from Chinese Whispers that made $60,000 for Rothwell Park when bought by Eclipse Bloodstock.

Lyndhurst Stud's bargain priced Better Than Ready posted his best result with a colt from Von Krum fetching $48,000 for Yarramalong Park when bought by Melbourne Bloodstock.
