Betting Agencies Predicting Egg Tart and Kenedna the Ones to Beat at Queensland Oaks!

Written on the 2 June 2017

It looks like it's shaping up to be a battle betweeen top trainers Chris Waller and Darren Weir, at the $500,000 Queensland Oaks Group 1 over 2200 metres. The race usually a feature at Eagle Farm has been moved to Doomben on Saturday due to the poor conditions of the Eagle Farm track.

Waller has an impressive 7 horses competing for the prizemoney, with Egg Tart the favourite at $3.30 after winning the Morphettville Oaks (G1) in May. The 3yo filly has had an impressive record to date, winning her last 5 starts on Good and Heavy tracks.

Weir's Kenedna ($5.00), sired by Not A Single Doubt, came a very close second to Egg Tart at the Morphettville Oaks. Running a little longer than Egg Tart, with Kenedna now in her second season, she also has quite an impressive record with 6 wins from 14 starts. The 3yo filly is yet to win her first Group 1 after just missing out on the Morphettville Oaks by a margin of a head.

Punters expect it won't be much different at their re-match on Saturday.

Ana Royale may also be one to watch for her first Group 1 win. The Stuart Webb trained 3yo filly came third at the Morphettville Oaks and first in the Group 3 SA Fillies Classic a couple of weeks ago. She's currently sitting at $7.50.

Dawn Wall ($7.50) another Waller trained 3yo filly and sired by Fastnet Rock has enjoyed 4 wins from 6 starts over the current season. Perhaps another chance on a first Group 1 win.
