Syndicator Owners in With a Chance at The Everest!

Perhaps purchasing with a registered syndicator is the way to go. Due to the diligent care they take in choosing and preparing their thoroughbreds, they have every opportunity at the big time to win. This couldn't be more true with two of the top liners, Redzel at $6 and She Will Reign $8 who have a good chance of a win in The Everest.

Snitzel sired Redzel, trained by Peter and Paul Snowden is an experienced 5-year-old gelding who has proven his Group 1 ability in the Doomben 10,000 this year.

After securing his place in The Everest, he took the track record win in The Shorts at Randwick on the previous Saturday, blitzing ahead of The Everest favourite Chautauqua in 7th place and one length ahead of Ball Of Muscle and Neita.

Chautauqua was only warming up in the last 100 metres, hitting his top on the line. With a couple more strides, he most likely would have run second.

"Terrific, obviously a month until the grand final, couldn't be happier. If it was 1200 metres today, he probably runs over the top of them," jockey Brenton Avdulla mentioned.

Chautauqua drifted to $5, while Redzel moved to $6 after the win, proving he is maturing into one of the best sprinters in Australia.

Peter Snowden clearly thinks a lot of Redzel's ability.

"He has come a long way this bloke. It has all been about what he has done himself. He has learned how to race properly," trainer Peter Snowden said. "He is very very genuine. He never makes a mistake. He races on pace, on wet tracks, dry tracks, carries weight well, he's just the real deal now."

She Will Reign purchased for a song at $20,000 is no dummy when it comes to racing. The three-year-old filly might have less experience than some of the other contenders for The Everest but she's got an impressive record of 4 wins and one second placing from 5 starts. She proved her Group 1 ability as well, winning the Golden Slipper at Rosehiill over 1200 metres.

Her trial performance last Tuesday at Rosehill for a shot at the Group 1 Moir Stakes was a stellar performance.

Trainer Gary Portelli was delighted with the morning's work saying that the 900-metre trial time of 52.90 seconds was notable.

"They don't break 53 (seconds) very often," Portelli said. "I've seen them run 53-and-a-half and thought that was fast but she ran 52-something.

"Everything went like clockwork this morning. She's her usual relaxed self. She did what she had to do.

"She's a pretty laconic horse these days and it was to see her hit the line good and she pulled up enormous."

Jockey Kerrin McEvoy will take the reins again for the Moir Stakes before handing them back to Ben MelHam at The Everest.
